I just created this collage in Photoshop with clipart from Jack and Cat Curio’s blog, as well as photoshop brushes from Obsidian Dawn (Snow & Snowflakes) and BSilvia at Graphics-Illustrations (Grunge Stars, Magic Circles, Grunge Snowflakes, and Beads).

Christmas Angel Collage

Today I ran across some lovely rubber stamped cards on Kristy’s Musings blog which feature cemetery angel statues. I spent a lot of my childhood time in cemeteries because my family’s business involved making gravestones and owning a cemetery, so I don’t think of them as creepy places at all. They’re just big, peaceful parks to me.

In Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City there is a very famous cemetery angel called the “Black Angel” (see below). There are a lot of urban legends around her, especially because she’s black. The black color just comes from oxidization of the bronze she’s made of. When I was a student at Cornell College 25 years ago and pledging, one of the things we had to do was go have our pictures taken with the Black Angel. Everybody else liked being scared and didn’t think too much of my telling them the truth about it. lol

I wonder if there’s an angel message in that? What if sometimes when you’re scared and you wish there was an angel around to comfort you, you’re only afraid because some part of you enjoys it? Maybe that’s a good time to go into the fear and make the most of it. In fact, angels being lovers of parties and celebrations, would tell you to throw your fear a party. Something to think about.

I met Steve Rack through Blog Catalog today who, on January 1st, 2008, is starting a project of drawing 365 characters, one each day, and keeping a blog of them. I think that’s a great idea, so during my drawing session today I decided to just let a character emerge. That’s what I do when I do intuitive portraits, but somehow today this was started with a slightly different mindset.

I started with a doodle and ended up with this guardian angel who wants to be named Rose. If you’re reading this and you have a grandma named Rose who was a woman in her twenties during the 1940s this could be her, as I am a psychic medium.

There is also a strong connection to Egyptian magic and Isis, so if you are drawn to these things, and to the artwork below, this could be your guardian angel. It may be many people’s angel. If any of this resonates with you, leave me a comment. I may have more information for you.

Artist Lucia Stewart left a comment at my Zazzle gallery, and that led me back to hers. Her art is about a black cat named “stressie cat” doing various amusing cat things. Among them is a cat with angel wings. It really made me smile, and I’m kind of stressed out today. Click on the link below to take a look.

Below is a short Youtube movie (video, film…what are they called now?) featuring Stressie Cat in the middle of Van Gogh’s impressionistic world.

I keep finding angel images by accident every single day lately. Sometimes the angels use the world as an oracle to try and get your attention. I wonder what they’re trying to tell me about cats?

I found Lily Cherry, a mixed-media artist after my own heart, on Flickr. She’s created several very cool angels. Here are the links:

I found this guardian angel wood mounted art (with crystals) for purchase on the Art Blessings gallery website. There is also a blog about Art Blessing’s campaign to spread goodwill by contributing 7000 free cards that say “you are amazing” on them. Honestly, I’m having a little trouble finding where you get the card, but I think that’s just my short attention span and the fact that a lot of the blog is in French.

I entered this collage in a contest at ArtellaLand. If you want to go to the forums and vote for me you can download a free holiday graphics pack there after you vote. Click here to vote.

This is the second in my new series of Angel Heart Oracle ™ pieces. Created in Photoshop using Obsidian Dawn brushes in the background, specifically “Arcane Runed Circles” and “Wings“.

Last week I led my Intuitive Arts group on CoachCreativeSpace in an artistic exercise designed to open the lines of communication between the artist and their angels. Doing that ended up in my making this piece of art. I knew when I finished it that it was a direct message from the Angel of Winter, who I had never known about before. I also know that it’s the first of a set of angel oracle cards, which I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. Call on the Angel of Winter when the short, dark days are getting you down. “Winter is the time to find the sun in your heart,” says the angel.
